Our trees and shrubs are sold by the scientific/botanical name. Since some of our customers may not know these plants by the botanical name, we have provided a cross reference list that allows you to look up the common name and locate the botanical name. This list is found at the beginning of the "Nursery" section of our catalog if you have received one, or you may open either of the two links below to view this list as either an Excel spreadsheet or an Adobe PDF file. The zone ranges provided are verified by a number of sources, but the success of each plant may also depend on winter conditions, mulching, snow cover and other factors. Information regarding the size of each tree or shrub is based on assumed plant maturity. If the "height" column in the catalog reads 5' x 5', the shrub will probably grow to five feet high by five feet wide. If it reads 4' - 6', we are only providing a mature height range for the plant. On every cultivar listed in the catalog, we have provided information regarding the rate of growth. This information is either spelled out or abreviated as SG for slow-growing, MG for moderate growth or FG for fast-growing.
